I'm a Massachusetts LTC holder, and I’m looking to get some info about the steps for getting a collector's authorization. If anyone has the scoop on how to apply or renew to get that collector's endorsement in our state, I’d really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Since you have an LTC already, the next step is to reach out to your local police department or the FRB. You’ll want to ask for the collector’s endorsement. This usually involves writing a letter or filling out a form where you explain your interest in collecting firearms. Whether it's for historical reasons, educational purposes, or just as an investment. Don't forget to share a bit about your collection goals, like your passion for historical pieces, any collector groups you're part of, and how you plan to store and secure your collection. Once you've got that submitted, just wait for it to be approved.

When it comes to renewals, they typically happen alongside your LTC renewal, but it’s definitely a good idea to double-check that the collector’s endorsement is included. I’ve seen it slip through the cracks before, especially if it’s not explicitly mentioned. Keeping track of your collection and any new acquisitions can really come in handy down the road if you ever need to prove your status.

What is the difference between the FFL 03 (curio and collection) license and the Mass Collectors License?
