Carbine gas on 16"

Considering the current ammo options and the latest parts, is there still any advantage for a 16" barrel when using a carbine-length gas system?

 I still run one like that and it works just fine but the mid-length just feels a lot smoother when I put them side by side.

Yeah, carbine works but mid-length definitely feels smoother side by side in most setups

Carbine gas still works well, just harsher impulse than modern midlength setups on 16-inch barrels.
