Hope everyone's having a good time here!

I'd love to know, what’s one hunting mistake you’ll always remember? Maybe it was that moment your scope went busted, or you realized the boots you wore were totally wrong, or perhaps you spooked the game way too soon. I’d love to hear your stories. Let’s swap some lessons and have a good laugh along the way!

It was my second season hunting, and I was still trying to get the hang of everything. I went all out and bought a bunch of pricey scent control gear, the spray, the special soap, even packed my clothes in those vacuum-sealed bags. I really felt like a pro.

On opening morning, I made it to my spot and things were going pretty well. About an hour in, I catch sight of a doe coming down the trail, and right behind her is a really nice buck. They’re heading straight for me, maybe 80 yards away and closing in.

Suddenly, the doe stops in her tracks, lifts her nose, and just stares at me. The buck does the same thing. Before I know it, they both snort and bolt off like I’d just shouted at them.

It took me a good 10 minutes to figure out what went wrong. I’d washed all my hunting clothes with that scent-free detergent and followed my routine to a T... but I had stopped at a gas station on the way and grabbed a breakfast sandwich. Yup, bacon, egg, and cheese. So basically, I smelled like a Denny's to every deer in the county!
