Do barrel thread protectors actually serve a purpose, or are they just unnecessary weight?
Yeah, totally agree, a light thread protector prevents dings and saves you from chasing damaged threads later.I think thread protection is essential. I’m sure a few trips in and out of the gun safe would ding the threads enough to make installation of a brake difficult without chasing the threads with a die. My thread protector is probably weighs less than an ounce.
