Thread protectors

I think thread protection is essential. I’m sure a few trips in and out of the gun safe would ding the threads enough to make installation of a brake difficult without chasing the threads with a die. My thread protector is probably weighs less than an ounce.
 
I didn’t see the point of thread protectors until I dinged a set once. Since then, I never leave the barrel unprotected, fixing damaged threads ends up costing way more than a small protector.

Yeah, totally agree, a light thread protector prevents dings and saves you from chasing damaged threads later.
